For most of us in the path of Hurricane Irene, the storm turned out to be a significant inconvenience, rather than a disaster. Not having power at home for four days was annoying, but hardly a tragedy.
The same cannot be said for one family from Monsey. Moshe Yosef Reichenberg zt”l saw that a power line had fallen, and a child had come into contact with the line and was in severe pain. The child’s father was unable to reach him. Moshe jumped out of his car to assist the boy and his father, and then came into contact with the line, himself.
I knew Moshe because we both studied in Ohr Somayach of Monsey, NY. He had a constant smile, and for him to rush to help is entirely in character for someone as dedicated as he was to his fellows.
He was also only 50 years old, and his family was barely making ends meet. Now, they need our help just to continue to survive financially without their father and husband. Please visit the Reichenberg Fund website to help!

This was a heartbreaking reality — it is hard to imagine witnessing a child being electrocuted and the crisis of the situation he found himself in. He must have been such a decent, caring person to have done such a thing.
